After a relaxing day at sea yesterday
- today was anything but. I had gto be out for my excursion to the
Mayan Ruins at Tulum at 7:20 am so the alarm rang at 6:00 am so I of
course snoozed it three times. I was ready to go when they opened
the Gangway at about 7:00 and walked down one pier and up a
different one to board a ferry to Playa del Carmen. The morning then
started with a minor disaster. I reached in my bag to get my camera
to take a picture of the Caribbean Princess and found that my water
bottle hadnt been closed as tightly as one might have wished and
leaked all over making my beach towel a sodden mess but also wetting
the camera. I could not get the power button to work all day and as
of this writing it still will not power on. RIP Sony Cybershot. You
were a wonderful camera and I'm sorry I killed you. So the Tulum
pictures are all taken with my phone I dont know how well they will
turn out.
Getting to Tulum cpnsists of a 45
minute ferry ride to Playa del Carmen (Carmen's Beach) Then aqn hour
drive to Tulum. Then a mile walk to the Archaeological site. Then
another half mile to the ruins themselves. Th ruins were quite
impressive. Much more detailed then the ones I saw at Altun Ha. I
hope my pictures come out. We were at the ruins for about an two
hours then the mile and a half walk, hour busride and 45 minute ferry
ride. Off the ship from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. Then back to the cabin
for a much needed shower before dinner. I had turbot for the first
time. It was a very nice white fish with a mild taste and a very
yummy sauce. The a production show and geography trivia. Now Im
debasting a late night swim. We have to put out clocks ahead one
hour tonight so I may just call it a night early read and go to bed
and let tomorrow be a late night .
